Intro

  • Nov. 20th, 2030 at 12:41 PM
This is Nancy's blog for her original writings.

Currently up on the chopping block is my fantasy series, The Valentine Trilogy. Occasionally I write in the universes of my other ideas but most of my energy is spent on the VT. Here is a Guide for it so you can read the short stories I write and know a bit about the characters and background.

A quick warning: there is very little that I consider taboo. A lot of my stories contain homosexuality. They may also contain profanity, religious blasphemy, semi-graphic to graphic sex, mild incest, violence, and other fun stuff. If this isn't your cup of tea, don't say I didn't warn you. With that said, most of my writings are tame, really. Don't go screaming just yet.

There'll Be No String To Bind Your Hands

Title: There'll Be No String to Bind Your Hands
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Julia, Valentine
Word Count: 1176

You always remember your first love.

God knows she doesn't miss Valentine for his mind. )
Title: Eight Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Menhit, Porphyry, OFC
Word Count: 1369

Whereas I feel Valentine would be a cool parent, Menhit and Porphyry would be clueless.

Achan blamed both of them )

Major update

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 11:09 PM
Holy crap. I just uploaded a gigantic mass of fiction that I've written since my last update, which is a lot, a lot. Because not only have I been working on my novels, but I've been churning out side stories like a good little aspiring writer.

Yay for me!

I'm hungry, guys.

Today We Are Luminous

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 11:08 PM
Title: Today We Are Luminous
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Menhit, Porphyry
Word Count: 1610

Ways in which Menhit has it good.

They publish the photos as a centerfold )

Not a Sonnet

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 11:07 PM
Language is super sexy.

Which is why I always get inspired to write love poems during English lectures.

This isn't a sonnet )

Lá Bealtaine

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 11:04 PM
Title: Lá Bealtaine
Verse
: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Menhit, Porphyry
Word Count: 9929

Menhit, you are lovely and my new favourite character. Let me shower you with prose.

Who'd ever think that my longest short story to date would be about fairies?

Once an ass, always an ass )

It's Always the Quiet Ones

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 11:01 PM
Title: It's Always the Quiet Ones (or why Wei-dao just can't get laid)
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Wei-dao, Jeoffroi, Menhit, Valentine
Word Count: 4490

Wei-dao, you huge dork.

Wei-dao doesn't have a thing for married men )

Assassins

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 11:00 PM
Title: Assassins
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Nisda, Wei-dao, Tala, the Gloria
Word Count: 737

Called "Assassins" because the four characters it's about (Nisda, Wei-dao, Tala, and the Gloria) are the four characters in the Valentine Trilogy that I really consider assassins. Sure, other characters like Valentine do kill people, but it's a side effect. It's not part of their job description. And I really wanted to write a story about the sad, endless cycle of violence type lives these assassins live.

Dying in our sleep is a luxury our kind is rarely afforded )

Manny

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 10:57 PM
Title: Manny
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Valentine, OFC
Word Count: 4868

Can be seen as a sequel to my story 43 Years, 2 Months, and 15 Days but only in the sense that they take place in the same timeline.

This is what happens to Valentine after he resigns.

Valentine was the best nanny ever )

43 Years, 2 Months, and 15 Days

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 10:54 PM
Title: 43 Years, 2 Months, and 15 Days
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Fatima, Svante, the entire gang
Word Count: 6157

An extremely unusual pairing, but I rather like it.

This story is also my exploration of the Toronto Prefecture after the novels.

It takes 43 years, 2 months, and 15 days to get over Jeoffroi )

Baby, We're Scientists

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 10:52 PM
Title: Baby, We're Scientists
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Timoti, Yulian, Blaine
Word Count: 310

I like to think that beneath all the shnazz and moves and piercings, Yulian is really just a big geek. When Timoti isn’t looking, he probably breaks out his Klingon dictionary and watches Star Trek marathons.

I wish I could be helicase so I can unzip your genes )

Epistemology

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 10:50 PM
Title: Epistemology
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Fatima
Word Count: 1172

Oh cool. I wrote about straight people.

Maybe they all see it )

Lessons from Restoration English Class

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 10:49 PM
This is a shout out to English majors everywhere (a fine, fine lot if I do say so myself), especially those of us who don’t come from an English background and can sometimes feel alienated by the very literature we love.

We are giants )

The Road Is My Mistress

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 10:40 PM
Title: The Road Is My Mistress (the second elm street remix)
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Nisda, Tala
Word Count: 4622

An AU where Nisda never died, but instead ran away with Tala.

The titles for some of the segments comes from W.S Mervin's "A Birthday."

We go wherever you want )

Preservation

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 10:38 PM
Title: Preservation
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Esbern, Svante
Word Count: 1502

Svante: So yeah, before I became a moody vampire scientist I was a prostitute stolen from my home. Then this guy named Esbern came along and changed me into a vampire and took me with him on a life of crazy hijinks. Except I hated him because he was mean to me. So I cut off his dick.

Some psychoanalyst: This is all very Freudian.

Me: Why am I writing this instead of my many essays?

Nobody would think he was crazy, lusting after Svante )

Salt Feeds Summer

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 10:33 PM
Title: Salt Feeds Summer
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Nisda
Word Count: 1506

Nisda is hero and villain. If this were a video game, she'd be your first mentor and your final boss.

You can't be afraid. Promise me you'll never be afraid )

Liars Lie

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 10:31 PM
Title: Liars Lie
Verse: Valentine Trilogy
Characters: Julia
Word Count: 1437

None of this is real )
